WELCOME


I started Wellspring Tutoring as a Harvard alum dedicated to getting you to the next level; I’ve helped students ace the SAT, go from C’s to A’s, make AP bubble sheets look like answer keys, and turn in top-quality high school and collegiate essays.

I want to be the tutor I never had. If I succeed, you’ll stop using me. Let’s work towards this common goal. In all seriousness, particularly in an increasingly competitive world, one should never worry about asking for help. That’s why I’m here.

I have tutored for a decade, logging over 1000 hours personally and through various platforms including Wyzant.com, where I was rated in the top 10% of tutors worldwide.

Last minute to long term, detail to big picture, deep dive or refresher, I will help you meet and exceed your goals.  High school and college admissions - even elementary and middle school these days - can often feel like a maze; I’ve run the race and I can tell you where to turn, saving you time, money and energy.

You simply won’t find a more qualified and personable tutor who emphasizes end-results as much as the methods it takes to get those lightbulb moments of growth and understanding. There may not be shortcuts but there are tried-and-true strategies and ever-evolving tips for success.

I quickly adapt and customize my teaching style to students of any personality, ability, and need for direction versus freedom. Whether he’s trying to understand fundamentals or she wants to max out her standardized test scores, I am as direct or casual, patient and focused as the student needs in order to succeed. No approach should turn the student off from the subject at hand or it defeats the purpose. Students will take away something from each tutoring session that they can use right away.

ABOUT (AND WHY) ME

My name is Tapan “like Japan but with a T” Sharma. I’m a Harvard alum and freelance writer from Minnesota who got into all of the top schools in the country including Princeton, Brown, and Cornell with a mix of academic and extra-curricular achievement. I have a continued passion for a variety of subjects - English, Writing, Math, Science – that I infuse into all my writing.

I will help you genuinely learn as well as perform well on exams.

I have a Master's in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Bioinformatics.  My undergrad majors were Neuroscience (B.S. Summa Cum Laude with Honors) and Psychology and Physiology (B.A. Summa Cum Laude with Honors).

In my high school career, I was a National Merit Scholar, scored 800 SAT Math, 770 SAT Verbal, 800 SAT Writing, and became a max 4.0 Valedictorian and National AP Scholar with Distinction with 13 exams. I will help you focus and balance to achieve at the highest levels.

While a great student doesn’t necessarily make a great teacher, I know what it takes to be both. Besides tutoring, I taught Martial Arts to all ages and abilities for several years. I was Class Speaker and President, Debate Team Captain and Homecoming King, and volunteered at my hometown church nursery. I know how to engage people of all backgrounds with confidence, overcoming any perceived cultural barriers, recognizing that communication, strategy, and empathy are keys to teaching.

Thanks to Tapan, Aaron is increasing his Kahn Academy SAT mock exam scores. A couple more sessions Aaron may just ace the SAT... both scores are well over 700 so we are extremely happy that both tutor and student.
